We would like to introduce you to Shakespeare and Co., a unique and elegant cafe, restaurant and event space. They currently have two locations open in Lexington, with a third one coming soon. The first location in Kentucky was started in the heart of downtown on Short Street. The second location is nestled in to the Chinoe Shopping Center and third location will open up in Hamburg Pavilion.
The design and décor of the restaurants is inspired by the hallmarks of a bygone era – 18th Century Europe. While every restaurant is distinctly “Shakespearean”, each outlet is unique in terms of colors, décor and layout. Each restaurant is conceived, designed and decorated by their in-house design team, and every piece of furniture and fixture is handcrafted in their very own workshops. Their locations are unique yet familiar, elegant yet homely, classic and comfortable.
Dr. Edward Saad and his wife Aline founded Shakespeare and Co. about 15 years ago. They currently have 38 locations worldwide with new ones constantly popping up. Dr. Saad is originally from Lebanon, but traveled to the United States to attend Marshall, MIT and the University of Kentucky where he earned his PhD. He & his wife currently reside in Lexington with their family.
Jessica Coomes is the Sales and Marketing Director at Shakespeare & Co. She can help you plan your wedding ceremony, reception, rehearsal dinner, shower, bridal luncheons or any other event you have in mind. They have two large rooms upstairs at their downtown location, that can be used separately or together for your event. The Chinoe location also has a private room for smaller gatherings or you can rent out the entire facility. The great thing about Shakespeare and Co. is that they are all-inclusive. The space is already decorated, they take care of the food & drinks, set up and clean up. Part of the charm in using them is that you can do as much or as little as you want.
Shakespeare and Co.’s menu comprises of classic dishes from the world’s favorite cuisines – in essence, reflecting the rich diversity of the patrons that visit their restaurants. They use classic methods and fresh ingredients to concoct quickly prepared, craveable meals that persuade a nostalgic feeling of home. From rustic Lebanese saj, to an array of classic Italian Pizzas and Pastas, and humble yet delicious finger foods, to rich meat and seafood entrees. They have specialized banquet menus that are in reference to the restaurant selections. Since almost everything is made in house, they have the ability to make/order things such as vegan/vegetarian options, gluten free or food sensitivities, as well as any customization to give it your own special touch.
